How does that thing handle on the corners or for that matter the back country roads?

Are you guys sure that the TRX4 is actually 1" higher then the rest of the dakotas. I have seen them many times around here and they look exactly the same. Maybe they come with taller tires from the factory, that would lift it. But I dont think there is a heavier duty leaf spring in the rear, I don't think the front end is any different either.

Does it say its higher on the sticker or anything? I know they come with different rear shocks, but from what I hear, there the exact same shocks just painted red.

I saved this review before buying my Truck. I believe in the 06-factory brochure
there is a mention on the 1” ride height.

“My test truck was a Dakota Quad Cab SLT 4X4 ($33,115) with the optional TRX4 Off-Road package ($1,405) which includes aggressive LT265/70R-16 off-road tires, 16-inch alloy wheels, four-wheel anti-lock brakes, painted monotube shocks, a one-inch increase in ride height, skid plates, tow hooks, heavy-duty cooling system, 750 amp battery, 3:92axle ratio, and anti-slip rear differential.”

I parked next to a trx4 on base here and talked to the guy that owned it. From the looks of it he wasnt sure either. But I think it just comes with bigger tires giving you that 1 inch "ride height". He had 265/70R16 that equates to a 31ish wider tire.

However you will notice in a post in this forum I made a few days back shows two different part numbers for axles offroad(TRX4) and non offroad (the rest of us 4x4's)

It took awhile to get used to. It leans pretty good. And freeway lane changes at anything over 70 gets pretty hariy, but for me the offroad benefit outweighed the onroad handling decrease by far. I guess it just boils down to whats more important to you...

That's what I would like to know. I have never been able to verify this!
