Default Crazy issue...

Ok here's the scoop. A while back my cruise started acting funny, it would work and then shut off while driving. It was pretty intermittent, but I left it for a while and it seemed to go away. Then my ABS light started coming on intermittently. While my ABS light was on, no cruise whatsoever. And I could always tell when the ABS light was coming becuase the cruise would shut off and then the ABS light would come on a few minutes later. Now it's to the point where the ABS light is almost constantly on, but every once and a while it will go off for a bit but will always come back on. And my cruise is almost useless. When the light is off the cruise only works for like 5 min....maybe two unrelated issues? Or are they related? Of course my warranty ran out a couple months ago, so anything I fix I have to pay for....hopefully not too bad. The dealer said they didn't have time til late Feb. So guys what's goin on with my truck?

Sounds like electronics to me, problem is there's so many modules on the CAN bus in these trucks it could be very difficult to narrow down without the right scan tools.

haha yeah Altair got it but I can see them being related as a failsafe so the truck doesnt try to take off if the brake safety system is failing

in the 2nd gen trucks, the speed sensor on the rear axel would cause the abs light to come on it it was bad, and would also disable the cruise control (because it would read the truck as stopped maybe???) look into that, idk how it works on your truck, but that was my issue on the old dak

On Gray One if I where to canceled and resumed the truck would keep going way past the set speed. If didn't re-cancel it would just go over a hundred. Then the abs would come on and the cruse shut down. If I turned cruise back on the cruise would hold the speed and the abs light was off. The dealer said they believe the cruise is made to shut down when there is a warning. I never had it fixed since it was a buy back truck.

I'd check the speed sensor on the axle.. my 2nd gen was doing that as well. I don't have cruise control on this one though :-)
