Default Anyone tried Castrol Edge?

The '08 Dak has hit the 3,000 mile mark and is ready for its first lube job. I've always had great results with Mobil 1, but am impressed by the new Castrol Edge. Anyone have experience with the Castrol Edge, or is it still too new?

Looks like you're gonna be the first...I know there are several of us on hear with either Royal Purple or AMSOIL...

Good luck with that...

I'm going to say that ANY good synthetic is going to be alright. Mobil, Amsoil, Royal Purple, etc.

It's almost like the octane debate: "Well 93 makes my car run better".

It's all a matter of debate. As long as the oil does what you need it to and you are happy with it, then that's all that matters!

I personally use Mobil 1 on my truck, Casterol on my wife's Jetta, and Rotella T on my bike. All synthetic.

Higher octane fuels have very specific applications...older carburated vechicles for one, or newer engines with high compressions that can take advantage of the slower 'burn' provided by the higher octane. So unless your vehicle meets one of the two criteria, you're throwing money away.

I'm trying to argue with him or get him to change brands...I simply stated what others ran for oil and 'good luck' running the Castrol...no sarcasm intended.

I bought my truck used and have no clue what the previous owner used, but I use AMSOIL in both the truck and my wife's Accord. My Valkyrie had dino oil until the first change and then Mobil for the last 30K...now I am getting ready to switch to Rotella as well..

OH, I'm not giving you $hit or anything. I realize that 93 has specific applications, like for example boosted cars to reduce the chances of detonation etc. If you car calls for 87, then use 87 is all I was saying.

i run the jiffy lube cheap $hit, change oil 4500 mile intervals. cant go wrong for $19.95 and at almost 70000 mile and quite a few nitrous runs, i have no complaints about the cheap stuff.

I am total opposite of Synthetics, still not sold on em. I use Dino Oil 5-20w, Pennzoil to be exact. No problems and I am getting the same mileage as you Syn Guys It works for me and its like $14 bucks with Filter and Oil and I go 3000 mile intervals
