Default infotainment center audio "glitch"

On a few occasions, My Nav/infotainment system has no audio. It takes a few "reboots" ( shut-off and restart) to get it going again. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if it will be a reoccurring problem. I am sure it is either software or a bug since it is basically a computerized system.

Its the stock system that came with My '08 laramie. I believe its called the "mygig" and of course it has the Nav/DVD and every concievable electronic option known to mankind. I love this system but the bug kinda freaked me out.

Check and see if you're running the latest application software. If not, d/l the latest version and see if that fixes the problem. The software version can be found on your system information screen.

No, you can do it yourself. Take a look at these two guides:

http://mofv.com/mygig/DLZipBurnGuide.htm
http://mofv.com/mygig/

It's important to be sure you download the correct software though. Assuming you bought it in the US you will either have a RER (Nav unit) or a REN (non-nav). The easiest way to tell is to look at the button below the menu button, on a RER this will say 'Nav' and on a REN this will say 'Audio'.

You don't have to use Nero Express to burn the CD, just follow along with their settings in whatever program you have if you don't have Nero. The most important things are to:
  • Burn it as a data disc
  • Make sure you have exactly the files and folder they show on it
  • Make sure that 'multisession' is NOT checked (In programs that don't offer this option but ask you to select from a few modes you will want to use the 'Disc at once' mode, other programs may offer a checkbox for 'Finalize disc' you will want to check this)
  • Name the disc properly for the update you are installing
  • Burn the disc at 1x or 2x speed (or as low as your program will let you go if you can't go that low)
I know this may sound a bit complicated but so long as you follow the steps it's really quite easy, just take your time and don't skip anything

Burning at low speed helps prevent any compatibility issues and helps reduce the possibility of errors. When you're going to use the disc in the same drive you burned it in you're golden, when you put it in a different drive depending how picky that drive is it might take issue with the disc. In the case of something important like this it is well worth the extra time to ensure everything goes smoothly.

(Anyone who's owned an original Xbox probably knows how picky they were about burnt CD's, you could often get them to read them by burning at a slow speed)
