smoke test would be best. tighten up everything and go around the fuel system with a torch, if the truck blows up than you have a leak, if not your good to go.

I've never heard of the "smoke test" and I don't want my truck to blow up lol. I think I'll get the gascap and if that doesn't work it's going to the dealer.

he was joking, lol... a smoke test would be done by the dealer. They inject safe smoke into the system to check for leaks.

My dad had the gas cap code come up all the time on his ram. He replaced the cap and still came on. We finally found a slice in the filler hose. Those are a pain in the but to change. If anyone changes one, buy new clamps...

Okay thank you. Lol. Yea, there is a problem with it for sure. I took it in Friday and they were too busy, they said to bring it in Monday which I definitely forgot. So, tomorrow I'm taking it in. I got gas today and I think there is something wrong with the filler hose too. My dad got me gas today and apparently after it was full, it stopped, well then he kept going to get it to an even $30 and it started leaking out of the bottom under my truck? So I don't know what's going on. But hopefully they figure it out!

Oh yeah, topping off is a no go on these trucks, used to see threads about that pretty often, when it stops that's pretty much all you're gonna get.

Haha yea, that's exactly what I told my dad too. I learned that when I first got the truck. It's really weird because my dad and sister have Chevy's and they can keep going after it stops and put about 1-2 more gallons into it. I like how it just stops though on Dodge's...once it's done, it's done lol. Usually if it stops at like $23.44 I'll take it to $23.50 but that's all about I can do lol. I wonder why that is....and I wonder what's going on with my truck like what would cause a slice in the filler hose...

I could top off my 01 Dakota but, not my 06. When it clicks, I just round it off to even .10 cent.
