Default EV OT Thread

Decided not to completely hi-jack the other thread.

It's all about improving battery technology....Not just for cars, but for homes too. I think (and I could be wrong), that the country will soon see a shift towards making your own power storing it locally, and using it wisely. I think a ton of money is about to be invested in R&D on reneweable power producers and battery technology. We will not continue to be hand cuffed with many of the current (no pun intended) problems associated with batteries. I see a near future with big power, range and reliability.....and hopefully a lot of cheap carbon fiber. We went to the moon....we can make a better battery.

I know this topic runs along the same lines as politics and religion. I am an optomist when it comes to electric. I believe that the renewable industry will make a huge dent in our emerging from recession.

copied from why can't we get...

Don't get me wrong I like the idea of an electric performance vehicle, or any other alternative... aside from the silly sound, what really turns me off about electric vehicles is the battery, its one thing to need a batter to start a vehicle, is another thing to run a vehicle completely off one. Think about it, the older the car gets, the less ppl take car of it the shorter the range will be as the battery has less life, whats worse is the gauges may say the battery is fuller than it is... (yes I know fuller isn't a word). If a battery could consistently give you the same performance each and every time I would have only the issue of the way they sound see OT thread...
