streeing queak and poor alignment
Hi,
My 05 Dakota recently started to squeak when I move the steering wheel and pulls to the left especially at high speeds. It started right after the weather warmed up, become very humid and the went to freezing temperatures. When the weather was cold the suspension all around would squeak over bumps, when accelerating , and when braking. Now that it is warm again, the only noise left is the squeak from turning the steering wheel.
I figured that because it got cold after the very humid warm weather, the bushings iced up and maybe have torn. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Bandito

HAHAHA! My '08 with 2000 miles has the steering wheel creak. Sounds like an old rocking chair creaking. It does it when I turn left or right and hot or cold inside. Going back to the dealer again unless it's something easy to fix which I would prefer to do myself.
My steering wheel makes a small squeak when turning it but only in warm whether, usually warm humid whether, took it to the dealer 3 times, til they realized the squeak was coming from the inside steering column, they took it apart and couldn't find anything wrong with it... its so small of a squeak I just turn my radio on, cuz its always loud :-D
Lot's of people had to have there intermidiate shaft replaced, theres a bulletin on it. Mine squeaked everytime i turned the wheel, they replaced it, and the issue is gone. Somthing about part of it not being greased correctly from the factory or somthing I think.
If your truck falls out of alignment though, its time to have the entire front end checked as well.

or stop hitting curbs LOL :-P j/k
I have an 05 I had the creaking stearing wheel,it seemed that everytime I turned the wheel in either direction it would creak.I gave my truck to my neighbor he took it to work with him he's a mechanic, any way he found a lose nut located on the steering shaft close to the firewall he tightned it and there is no more creacking and clunking in steering catch up(meaning when you turn the wheel,it would move 1/4 turn then you would feel it catch) when I turn the wheel.
He also fixed the clanging noise I've had for the last 2 years,my drives side sway bar was shot,he replaced both,Man what a diff it feels good to have a tight truck again.
