Well good luck man, hopefully they'll cover it. Sounds like they didn't do enough product testing or messed up and forgot to give you spacers with it.

I highly doubt that they will offer to pay for the damages on their own.

But, this might be a good time to get a lawyer involved to help you get money out of them.

well they said they would but today the bad news continues

this is the email i got this morning.....
I installed it onto a 4.7L crank using everything you sent in. You had the correct parts from ASP and used the correct crank bolt supplied from Dodge. Here are the pictures of the install.
Your dampner is seated on the crank and against the timming gear as it is suppost to. The crank bolt is installed with no bottoming out of threads as evident on the bolt, ie no rolled over thread at the bottom of the bolt. The thread dept of the crank is 5 in the trh starts at 3.375 and the bolt lenght is 4.00 so there is not way the crank bolt can bottom out in the crank. It is not long enough.
My guess is the guys who did the install did not tighten the crank bolt to 130 ftlbs. and it backed out. How many miles were on the truck since the install?
At this point ASP finds no problem with our pulley being installed onto a 4.7L crank shaft. We can only offer you a refund for the ASP part.

YAY i get screwed again..... o well next time ill know better..

Put it down to a lesson learned.. I've done a few at this point in my life, sure to add a few more. Bad part is they almost ALWAYS cost MONEY.

I would make sure your original facts were true that the bolt was too long. If that in fact is true - I would talk to a lawyer to see if they can do anything for you before you right it off as a lesson learned unless you have money to throw away.

And if you do have money to throw away - can you throw some my way? LOL

Sorry to dig this back up, but I bought an u/d pulley from airram and THEN saw this thread... I wonder if his is better than ASP's since he uses one on his 4.7?
Was it ever realized if your pulley was bad or it was the install that went wrong? I really don't feel like f'ing up my engine after spending tons on parts over the past 5 months.
Thanks for info~

oh man i wish id never see this post again lol
anyway nothing really came out of it, mechanic who put it on swore it was on right and there really wasnt anything that you could tell if it wasnt or if it was.. meaning no noise or wierd ride.. asp said that there wasnt anything wrong with there pully and i call bs on that but w.e all i ever got out of it was refund of the pully and paid the rest .. all in all ive put about 7k since the rebuild and everything is great.. hemifever keeps hookin me up with nice fresh tunes and truck seems to go better then ever..
as to doing the pully yeah sure why not, just be aware that there is a possibility that it could cost you in the long run and for what you get out of it isnt much.. might be wise to fight your battles somewhere else.. but looking forward to seeing what your truck becomes of when you get back !!!

2500 miles left on my warranty...I'm preparing for something to go wrong shortly after that.
