Anyone have trouble opening the arm rest compartment (in trucks with the center front seat) my is a pain to open

 

Yup, and I have had an issue closing mine too...

When you get it open, remove the latching assembly, and soak it with wd40...

That'll solve the problem...

make sure you clean em up before, and after you wd40 them...

maybe try using some sort of grease on it, afterwards, i didn't and my problem came back...

I bought my truck used and when I got it the thing would not open or close properly. I opened as far as I could get it, removed the two screws at the far back lower portion, removed the plastic cover on the rear and money, pills, and dirt POURED out. I think I found a few dollars in change from the previous owener and I found a horse pill. Whatever drug it was was jamming the console. REinstalled the plastic cover and it works like new!

 

Do a search for "Console latch repair" there was a post by Djsilver on 01-12-08 on how to repair the latch and it worked for the 2005 Dakota that I had. I have the link below, but there were picture in the link that are not showing up any more. Maybe PM Djsilver and he can send the pictures.
