Default Installing an aftermarket Deck soon

Hey, my buddy just gave me his Pioneer DEH-P7800MP deck for free. Its a sweet single din deck, I really like it.

I am going to install it when I get the chance.

Thing is, I hear we need some special cable to bring power to the deck, because our stock units don't require such. I looked on crutchfield and the damn things is $70.

"Metra XSVI-6502 Chrysler Interface" Thats the cable.

Anyone know where I can get this cheaper??

Or better yet, a complete DIY kit for the truck?

I used metra ch6001 check to make sure though, The cigarette lighter power wire works, In my 05 it is blue with a pink stripe, That will hook directly to the decks accessory wire and the metra plug will have a red accessory wire do not hook anything to that. Don't forget the antenna adapter CR-10 adapter. Hope that helps

Even with the adapter you still need to splice into power?

That's using the cheap $8 adapter not the $70 one that pulls power form the trucks CPU

So just to clear it up, if I use the$50-$70 Metra XSVI-6502, then its plug and play, no wire splicing?

And if I go for the metra ch6001 for $8, then I have to splice into accessory power?

Reason I ask is, I was looking up the $50-$70 Metra XSVI-6502 on crutchfield, and under reviews, some customers state "it was difficult to figure out what wire to splice too"

Or is this incorrect?

If I have to splice with either adapter, then I am def going for the cheap one.

A friend of mine owns the local car audio shop I will stop by and get you the exact part number for the cheap one and I will ask him if there is any wiring involved with the other but for the record he told me to do it the way I have mine, You cannot argue with 25 years experience

Yeah um well i might have just gotten a bad wire but when circuit city was going out of business i got that $70 wire for $50. I still had to bypass the speaker wires in that kit cause the speakers were muted and very low. I bypassed them and then it all worked good. D**m dodges complex audio wiring.jk

Ok I went to the shop today he had me use Metra 70-6502. But unfortunately he did not have any of the Metra XSVI-6502-NAV in stock but he did tell me that if you were planning to put a deck with navagation in that you would might be better off with the XSVI-6502-NAV and to his knowlage the are no wires to splice with the XSVI-6502-NAV unless you do the navi thing. Here again it all comes down to what you want to do. I hope that helps
