I've never heard of a water anything in a transmission but I'm also not a mechanic. There's a temp sensor, not a water temp sensor that I know of though.

there is a temp sensor on the tranny. if you follow the lines from the radiator to the tranny you will notice wiring that goes to the sensor. it is more or less a idiot light on the dash. theres a little icon that shows if it gets to hot.

Yea but not a water sensor.

If this is a dealer take what they say with a grain of salt. I just had them tell me the upper control arm is hitting my spring on compression which is why my front end is making so much noise so that they won't have to replace the ball joints under warranty. Even after I explained that the geometry on the upper control arm would place it over the spring by the time it came close enough to contact it.

Sorry guys, it a "Rain Sensor on the trans" ?? got me.
Was in at the dealer this morning and there was another guy in for the same thing on his dodge 2500.
Apparently the one they ordered for him was the wrong one but fits my Dakota so they’ve ordered him another one and I’m getting his.

Now I'm going to find out what this sensor does when I pick up my truck. as I didn't have time this morning.
I will let you guys know what this does and where to find it.

Default Range Sensor

Sorry guys, finally figured out what the dealer was saying over the phone it was a "Range sensor", part of the computer monitoring system, tells you if there's a problem. it was leaking so they replaced it.
