Default What RD and GPS units do you have in your dakota?

so as most of you know, my truck was broken into last week, and some things were stolen including my radar detector and gps. it sucks that it happened, and that my insurance wont replace them, but i guess if you have to look on a bright side here it is. now i have a reason to upgrade!!!!

so i did some research on radar detectors, and found out my previous one (a cobra) was...well, i cant say it on here. either way, i couldnt justify spending 300+ on a nice beltronics or escort. i picked up a whistler pro 78 rev C. msrp is 230 and i picked it up new for a considerable amount less. there are a lot of nice functions on the rev c but im not going to list them. the 2 leds in the pic below flash in a certain sequence for each band detected. actually you can turn them off, set to blink, or always on. im gunna try out the blink. it just came in the mail today, and i went for a quick drive. it was nice, it filtered out a lot of junk i was getting from banks/auto doors ect and the distance was much greater. im going to hardwire it later tonight. new gps is in the works. im gunna wait a few weeks, but my previous was a garmin, and my next will be to. just dont know what model yet. i will want to hardwire that as well. im thinkin ill put that in the top corner of the windshield. the detector will be in the regular position, centered horizontally and a few inches above the windshield wipers.

Radar Detector: Whistler Pro 78 Revision C
GPS: Garmin...undecided on model

Cool man!

Right now I am running a Garmin 200W. Its basic and I like it, with simple commands and simple routes

Running a Garmin 255, wish I had popped for the 255W for the qwerty text screen.

Unit is a lifesaver ... I love it.

I have the tomtom910. It has a 20 gig hard drive and comes with a remote control. Tomtom has a map update service that cost 40/yr, haven't tried it but I purchased a new map last year. One time I left the gps outside, it got rained on and still worked. One of the downsides of this unit is that it's heavy but I think the new ones that are of this type, in the 900 series, are much lighter.

Sorry to hear your truck got broken into, I know the feeling, it sucks.
