So You Say You Don't Tow Or Haul Much!
if you have somewhat heavy payloads in the bed the rear will sag greatly! And i have had mine removed for a while and have since bent and de-arched my leaf pack pretty badly. Not sure if this is from beating on the truck too hard in the desert or lacking an overload spring. Just something to consider...
Of course thats going to happen, thats the purpose of that leaf. Its a great way to trash your leaf packs.
The lowering shackles are a much better idea.
The suspension shop that did mine Removed mt wheels and then whent at the U bolt's. They also had the floor jack in the center of the axle, Put ck stands to catch the axle, then removed the weight from the leaf's. It took them 30 min total with air tools.
Leaving the over load leaf, In and Using the Shackle kit to lower the rear end, Will result in the Same or Worse Control than You have now. I Guarantee this Statement. Speaking From Experience, When my 2003 F150 and my 2002 Dodge Dakota was both Lower'd. They removed or suggested You remove the over load leaf. But If that's not definitive enough for you, Just ask around. The extra leaf is there to allow your truck a heavier Pay Load Or A Greater Towing Capacity. Using the Shakle kit will create More of A bow affect in your Leaf pack Thus Applying more tension to your Axle.
