Default 08 or 09 extend Cab Dakota and baby seat?

Is it legal to fit a baby seat in the extend cab?
Amber and I are thinking about having kids in the next few years and so we don't want a van or station wagon.
I have the quad cab so I know theres no problem there but Amber wants the 09 extend cab dakota.
Thanks in advanced.

I have had both of my kids, a 1 year old and a 3 year old, in my crew cab at the same time, multiple times. It gets a little rough on 12 hour trips (take leave and visit Indiana), but I leave when they're asleep and arrive when they're just waking up, so they'd have been cranky anyways. I wouldn't say it's optimal, but definitely doable. By the way, on short grocery trips, or to rent a movie, I have no problems whatsoever getting them in and out, unless I hit their head on the seat belt thing at the top, then all hell breaks loose. Don't do that.

I had my daughter in my '06 CC (which I got in June of 06, she was 1-1/2 yrs old). She fit fine and had no issues. And yes it is legal. I had a grown up sit back there for a short drive. There was enough room for a short trip.

I got the '07 QC in January '08. Now there is plenty of room for her...she is 4-1/2 now.

There are anchors for baby seats in the back of my 05 club cab. Can't imagine they'd put seat anchors back there if it wasn't legal. That said, when the kids get larger, the rear seats in the club cab are kind of a sorry excuse for a seat, I took mine out. You can technically fit adults back there (I made my 6'5 friend sit there when he was complaining) but they won't be happy, lol. The quad cabs have more people room back there.

Wow that you "everybody". Amber was thinking we'd have to get a van in the future---and we are not van people lol.

Thanks again to everybody.

I have had my friends sit back there for short trips, I can imagine going on any long trips with some giant in the back. The front passenger seat even has anchors in it, of course turn the airbag off if you go that route

Just for your info the 2008 and 2009 Dakota's "DO NOT" have a switch to turn off
the air bag any more.

As for child restraints, here is some info:

NOTE: Children 12 years and under should always ride
buckled up in a rear seat in an appropriate child restraint.

Extended Cab
The Extended Cab front and right rear (if equipped
with a rear seat) passenger seating positions have
lower anchorages for LATCH equipped child restraints

Child Restraint Tether Anchor
The Extended Cab model has one routing strap
located behind the passenger side rear outboard
seating position. The tether anchor itself
is located in the center of vehicle, in between
the two seating positions. The front outboard passenger
seating position is also equipped with a child tether
anchorage, located at the base of the front seat back.
When there is a rear seat delete option, the tether
anchorage located on the cab back panel is designed to be
used for the front seat center seating position. The Crew
Cab model has three anchorages located behind each of
the rear seating positions (rear left, rear center, and rear right)

Hope this helps

Does anyone, with a crew cab, and a child seat use the anchorages located behind each of the rear seating positions. The manual demonstrates running the tether from the child seat through the routing strap directly behind the headrest of the child seat and over to the anchorage location behind the headrest of the middle seating position. So far so good but the anchor ring behind the middle seating position is resisting being tightened at an angle towards where the child seat is located. Before I reef on it to make it snug I thought I'd check with someone else who may have encountered the same problem.

Note: The anchor ring behind each seat is to close to the child seat to effectively tighten so I assume that's why they went the routing strap route instead.

Thanks
