Default Rust underside of truck

Has anyone noticed how fast these trucks rust underneath? I read about the rusty oil pan and decided to look under mine only to see rust forming!! I'm guessing I am going to have to start hitting it with some high temp rustoleum or something.

hmmmm, can't say that it looks like its rusting fast. No faster than the avg truck, anyways. I always wash the underneath though. I would only use paint, dont apply that undercoat stuff on it now, you'll just trap the crap under it and cause it to rust indefinitely

If you do paint it definitely use something that is made to be applied over rust and neutralize it. As bolt said you don't want to trap the cancer in there and let it keep working.

Rust, what rust? I thought it was suppose to look orange and scaly. You might think I park in the bay. My dealer said do you live near the ocean? I said what if I did does that mean I should have not bought a Dodge? I don’t know but lame thing to ask

this is what my rear looks like.....

Is that anything too bad? I didnt think so, i only wash the truck like, 3 times a year, and usually thats during the summer, not the winter. I thought to myself years down the road i would just rustoleum the bottom, but it seems normal to me.

This is what mine pretty much looks like. Its covered in salt in that pic too....but hardly any rust in the front end, some on the rear axle, but nothing that alarms me at all, they all get to look like that here in NY. Nuts and bolts and such could get rusted away through the years i suppose, but things like axle housing, oil pans, etc, those shouldnt be rusting away. Surface rust is different.

Those of you without rust could use something like http://www.por15.com/POR-15/productinfo/1GB/ to prevent it.

I mentioned this to my old man and he said if it's rusted like that, spray it down with linseed oil. It's supposed to stop anymore rust from occuring.

I've used por15 plenty of times. It is some of the greatest stuff ever. Pretty pricey though. I wish they came in spray cans though. Finally make sure you don't get any on your skin, its a bear to remove!!!
