My wife is looking at two used Dakota SLT extended cabs with similar mileage (around 25,000). The 2005 model is $3,000 cheaper and of course that's the truck I am encouraging her to buy. She tells me that she has read that the 2005 model Dakota has had numerous consumer complaints and recalls. Is there any truth to that or is the 2005 model year really that much worse than the 2007 model year?
I love my 2005, only problem has been a seat belt sensor that was replaced by the dealer for free. Other than that, she has been good to go. I waited until my warranty expired and went crazy with mods, these trucks are alot of fun.
Well depending on what you want to spend the 07 has a few standards up grades for the SLT and Laramie. Remote start, Tilt start and touch lane change signals. They also have the 170 degree rear door latches on the club cabs and two tear lift gate all standard on the 07s. I may not be labeling the function correctly. I like all of them and became very use to having them.
'07's also are TSB free, specifically rear brakes. Age is a much slower death than mileage on trucks, but FWIW it's a few less years of UV damage to the paint, weathering of the tires and belts, minor engineering improvements, etc.
