need 4 pin trailer harness wires identified
Thanks for the wiring diagram, baracis. I used it begin wiring my flat 4pin trailer harness. Here is the process I went through.
From this schematic:
my left turn signal (LTS) wire should be white/dark green (WT/DG)
my right turn signal (RTS) wire should be white/orange (WT/OR)
my tail light wire should be pink/red (PK/RD)
Using Scotchlok splicers, I saddled my trailer harness wires like this:
Yellow (LTS, brake) wire to the white/dark green wire of the truck harness
Green (RTS, brake) wire to the white/orange wire of the truck harness
Brown (tail lights) wire to the pink/red wire of the truck harness
White (ground) screwed to chassis directly w/ a ring connector and self tapping screw
With that configuration, I got running lights but only the left turn signal and brake. I got no right turn signal. At the very least, that told me my right turn signal wire was incorrect. There are nine wires in the truck harness (Black, Brown, Black/Dark Green, Pink/Red, White/Orange, White/Light Green, White/Dark Green, White/Light Blue, and White/Dark Blue), and instead of guessing at which was correct, removed the tail light housings to see which wires were feeding the bulbs. On the dual filament bulb, of which one is the turn signal, there is a connector with three wires. I knew from my initial wiring that I had the correct LTS wire, which was WT/DG. From the connector feeding the left rear tail light, I saw that it was the first position on the 3 wire connector feeding the bulb.
I, then, looked at the wiring feeding the right rear tail light. The wire that was in the similar position on that connector was white/dark blue (WT/DB), not WT/OR as indicated in the schematic. (The WT/OR wire fed the middle position on the connector.) I decided to try that wire as my feed for the RTS wire of the trailer harness. So, I spliced the green trailer harness wire to the WT/DB truck harness wire.
Everything worked. I had left and right turn signals, brakes and running lights.
I don’t know what year this schematic is from, but on a 2006 SLT, the WT/DB wire is the RTS wire, not the WT/OR wire.
One other thing, there are two white wires w/ green stripes. One is a lighter green than the other…use the one with the darker green for the LTS.
The same can be said for the white wires w/ blue stripes. One is a lighter blue than the other…use the one with the darker blue for the RTS.
If there is a question as to which one to use, you can open up the protective sleeve surrounding the wires going to the tail lights from under the truck and peek at the wires and what they look like.
No hard feelings for those who want to buy expensive plug-in harnesses w/ pre-configured connectors, but this cost me less than $10. I already had the stuff I needed so maybe it was less than that. Time was my big investment, and I’m comfortable with what I got for my money. If it ever fails, I will know where to look instead of paying someone else to trace the short down.

I have an '06 ST. I wouldn't think the wiring would be different. I sent an e-mail to them telling them I've had incorrect info before. Maybe I should write them again. If I'm remember correctly when I installed my hi-lo converter the darker colored wires would say DB for dark blue and what not. Took me and an electrician a few minutes to figure that out.
I'm glad everything worked out for ya. Do you have any pics? I was wanting to attempt this myself, but I just didn't have the ***** to cut into my wiring like that.

For the record though, I didn't cut into any wires. I used the Scotchlok splicers that clamp onto the existing wire, along w/the wire you are attaching. They are pretty much fool proof to use.
For reassurance, you could open your tail light enclosure and look at the wires going into the 3 wire connector attached to the dual filament bulb. In my case, the first wire in the series was the turn signal wire in each side.
The pink/red wire was the tail light wire.
Here is a link to the type of splicer/connector I used, except mine were blue:

Here are some pictures. The first is blurry but I am too lazy to go do it over.

They basically show the turn signal wires as they are wired at the connector inside the tail light cover lenses. Looking at them there, or from within the harness as it feeds each light underneath would be a good idea to give you a view of the wire you want to splice into for the trailer harness. As noted previously, there are two white/green wires and two white/blue wires in the main harness, so this helps you pick the right one.
Hope this helps.
