Default winch mounts

Does anyone know of where to get a winich mount for a warn Tabor 9k? Or a front reciever hitch so I can use a portable winch rig? Id rather just mount the winch instead of using a portable setup though. I can seem to find any mounts that will fit the 05 dakota and the Tabor 9k. Also is that a good winch choice or are there better options or cheaper options? The truck also has a brush guard, I dont know made by who though since I do not have the truck yet.

http://www.warn.com/truck/winches/src/tabor_9k.shtml

pictures of the guard are attached.

Thanks

Unfortunately, I'm not finding any offerings for permanent mounting system for any Dak after 2004.
However, there is the portable mount avenue, just need that front 2" receiver installed for it. There are a lot cheaper ones out there than the Warn one.

As far as the Tabor, it was a separate company that Warn bought out a few years ago. I know a few people with them, I can remember one guy having the solenoids go, just out of warranty, of course. But other than that, no issues. However I've never been crazy about the fact that Warn markets them as for "occasional" use.
NOT a big fan of the Mile Markers or Superwinches. But if you don't want to spend the money on a Warn or Ramsey (the class of the winch world), another one you should look at would be the Smittybuilts. They are making a solid winch, and trying to break into the market. Offering models that compete with Warn on durability and quality at a fraction of the price. You can pick up an 8k for $299 and a 10k for $399. Compare that to the $800 I spent on my 9k Warn!!!

Can you even open the hood with that bush bar on there? it doesn't look like you can unless the bush bar can move forward

Don't know of any winch mounts for the 05 and up Dakota, you might Have to build a custom setup. which would be cool.
It looks Like a westin bush bar that been mounted to lean toward the hood more, it looks good but, I may be wrong though about the Westin.

is that a decent winch? Would a regular steel cable be a better option?

Winches with synthetic ropes were originally developed for those who professionally rock climb. The synthetic rope resists fraying on sharp, jagged rocks better than the steel cable does. But you pay a premium for the synthetic rope.
Here is the exact same winch but with a steel cable and roller fairlead for $299. I personally know about a half dozen guys who have bought a Smittybuilt winch in the last year and a half because of the price. They are a quality Winch, so much so that I am going to put my 9k Warn on a front receiver mount on my Jeep Grand Cherokee and purchase their 10k model with built in air compressor for the truck.

BTW: AWSOME SETUP Dodgetrucker75!!!

will the synthetic cable be any better? I planned on paying $650 for the warn so the $500 price tag isnt much of an issue if its worth it.

I do not personally know anyone who uses one on their truck. But a friend recently put one on his ATV winch and loves it.
I have never read ANY negatives about the synthetic rope aside from the cost of it and it's tendency to get pinched in roller fairleads. The benefits are that it will never rust, doesn't kink and most importantly, unlike steel, they DO NOT store energy under stress, meaning they will not snap back and exert dangerous whiplash that has killed people, like a steel cable can.
Yeah, IMO, if the extra cash is there, go for it...

Since it on subject some. Hammer do you think the 8,000lbs simmitybuilt is enough to pull out a mid sized truck or even a full size truck when stuck. I'm talking about say a medium to mid high type of a stuck. I know it probably wont handle a high or deep type of stuck. I know they also have a duty cycle where you can only run it for so long is its cycle enough to get someone unstuck.
