Basically, the story is it's not my truck. It's my dads truck. He owns a courier company and when the truck was bought it was adequate for what they wanted it for. The business changed and they needed a truck that can pull 11,000-12,000lb loads. So a new truck was bought to replace this truck.

The Dakota is at 91,000ish kms right now and the lease is only for 80,000kms. There is 18 months left on the lease. DC wants the payments made up front plus km overages before they will let him return the truck. He has asked me to sell the truck, but by the time the money is paid plus the buyout value of the truck it puts the truck at considerably more than one with half the kms and comparably equipped sells for.

Because of the interest rate it's cheaper for him to make the monthly payments than borrow the money and pay it out and sell it, or give it back to DC.

To avoid having to pay for parking we have made an agreement that in exchange for letting him park it at my condo for the next year and a half (or till it sells) that I get free access to it provided I pay for the kms I drive it. As it sits the plan is to park it for a year and a half and return it to DC. The truck needs to be kept in good enough condition that it can be returned without penalties, and enough that if I want to haul something every few months I can.
