Question Can you remove the plastic chrome on the rims?

I was just wondering if you can remove the plastic chrome from the 18" rims? And if you can will they look ok? I'm not a big chrome fan and like the look of non-polished aluminum more.

Damn. I hit up the Ram and Durango sections and sure enough these plastic chrome pieces are glued on really well and when removed there is a ton of glue residue. And even if you get all of the glue off the wheel still doesn't look good.

I'm thinking I want to switch over to 16" wheels and run a larger tire for the 4-wheelin' my wife and I want to do. Anybody in the Denver area with an '08 or '09 TRX want to swap some 16's for some 18's?

The TRX's aren't the only ones that came with 16's

Dude your wheels are kick ***, and look great on your truck. Get some low profile M/Ts...Mickey Ts seem to be popular here. Get some Baja ATZ radials. They make them in a 275/70/18. Might rub a little, but nothing a ulility knife couldn't fix. Hell, I'd almost drive to Colorado to switch you my 17s...but they are chrome too.

I've always liked the look of small rims and big tires. The 16's with some decent meat on them would look nice. I'm just not sure what I'm going to do (i.e. - trade, keep my 18's or buy new 16's).

These 18's are really heavy and I know that by going with 16's and a larger tire I should see a reduction in weight even if it is small. I'm kinda **** about this wheel weight thing. The reason being, the last car I had, I put a lightweight set of rims and tires on it and the difference in acceleration was most definitely noticeable. I'm hoping to do the same thing with this truck.

Plus, I would like a lot of sidewall for the light to mild rock climbing I will eventually do with this thing. I want to be able to air down and have some rim scrub resistance with a wider tire.

I thought the '08 - '09 TRX's had slightly different 16" wheels than those of the previous years but I just wasn't 100% sure on that. But hey, if the older years are the same and in excellent shape then I'm willing to trade.
