Default 14 mpg?!

I have a 2005 V8 SLT Crew Cab. I got it used about a month ago in very good condition. The only mods it has is a chromeintakes CAI I installed a few weeks ago. My MPG is 14.6, and I can literally watch my fuel gauge drop. Whats the average yall get?

Just tooling around town...anywhere between 13 to 14. On the highway...around 18-19. My commute has changed. I travel to downtown San Diego from where we live in the burbs and it is roughly 1/2 freeway, 1/2 side and city streets. The last tank combined with this current fill, I am getting between 15 to 16. I know this thing can get good MPG if you are on the freeway alot.

See the attached. These pics are from when we moved back to CA after 7 years living in NJ. Our average freeway speed was around 72mph. The pictures are of the trip computer after a fill; first being the DTE (distance to empty) and the other was my average MPG to that point of the trip. We were in Flagstaff, AZ when the pics were taken...

Depends on my driving! If I was driving like I was in Utica, Mi for the MNG and rodding the truck being foolish, I get 15-16 avg *DAMN FOOT*. Now back here, I get 17-18 on avg city and 20-22 highway.

Try to find a gas station that doesn't use a 10% ethanol blend, see if that helps you out.

I can't get near 20mpg on the highway, but regularly get around 16mpg around town. I'm happy with the around town milage, but keep seeing where guys are doing much better on the highway. My highway about matches my city, is normally betwen 16 and 17.5 depending on my speed (usually about 75mph) and wind conditions. Doesn't seem to make much difference what the outside temp is. I've checked the air cleaner, it's fine. I do have the full time 4x4 transfer case. Is it possible that thing is costing me 4mpg? I was thinking maybe 1 mpg when I bought it, would've been fine with that. Am I missing something (05 CC Laramie w/30k miles)?

Yea, you missed my last post. Don't use gas with ethanol.

I get about 12.5 in town... still a heavy foot, but with custom exhaust and K&N 63 CAI and tonneau cover.

As soon as I start to get at highway speeds for any period of time, my economy increases significantly.

I have heard the full-time 4x4 isnt very generous when it comes to fuel!

2005 4.7L 4x4 (non-AWD) 3.55 gears. Ever since moving to Jersey I average 12mpg. 10 minute drive to work with a bunch of stop lights is not kind on mileage, the truck is barely warmed up for a minute before I get there and it's time to shut it off.
