Has Any MFG Come Out With A Good Set Of Shocks For Our `05 Dakota's Yet?
Depends on your definition of "good". haha
If you just mean better than the total crap shocks we get from the factory, then yes. Rancho and one other company (whos name evades me right now...long weekend
) have come out with aftermarkets for our GenIIIs just within the last year or so. If you mean "good like Bilsteins or Konis though, then no. Good luck on your bouncy travels.

Is your Dakota a 4x4 or No?
Have you altered the height of your Dakota?
Thanks for coming by bud...
Hey LB,... Thanks for the Shopping Tip. Yep i've been there before, I have them in my favorites already.
Did you Swap out the Shocks in your Dakota already also?
What did you end up going with for the front and the rear? What was the end results of the Loadlevelers?
Thanks again LB...
Hey MoparPower, Hows it going?
I take it you want me to go with Rancho eh? Hehe
Man,... I've Watched Your Videos On YouTube, Those are GREAT Nucking Futz Videos Guy... I Like Em.
Thanks for Dropping By...
The Rancho and Monroe are one and the same. The Rancho is said to be more resilient to rust and damage if you plan to go off road a lot and so-on. I purchased the Monroe’s but have not had the time to install them yet. I will within the next two weeks when I get back home again. I'll report back in with a review on how I feel about the new shocks.
Hey GrayThang,... Arent You in Florida Also? I think We Talked Drag Tracks Together in SW Florida Several Years Ago Possible,...
Anyway,... Yeah, No my truck wont be going Off-Road At least Not While I'm Driving it so i dont think Rust will be a big worry for me, Plus down here in SW Florida I dont have the Salt to deal with that they use up North to Remove the Ice from the Roads which is another Rust causing issue.
Yes Please,... Report Back to us and let us know how the Shock Report goes once you get your Monroe’s Installed.
Now did you get Monroe’s to go All Round Your Truck or What, What Model # Did You Get If So?
Hope to hear from you Soon.
Thanks for Stopping By Bud...
Hey Everyone,... Thanks for your help everyone, You guys have giving me something to look forwards to and to look in to all at the same time, I cant wait for some of your feedbacks and hopefully more people down the road will post their reports to this thread later on.
Altair,... Thanks for that # 1-734-384-7809 to Monroe, That'll make it easier if any of us will have any questions later on also we can pop open this thread if were to lazy to look it up on their site hehe,...
Can't Wait For Your Feedback Guys.
Thanks for Stopping By.
"Yeah,... I was hoping for some Bilsteins actually, I've searched for those in the pasted without any luck. If i remember correctly,... I think they only support up to the `04's"
I posted the # for the rears already.

Its going well. LMAO, thanks man.
My Rancho's have about 15000 miles on them now. I was one of the first to do them. Loved them then, love them now. Highly recommended.
I think the Bilstein rears only work with 2" lifting blocks in back....I could be wrong.

Yes, the ones I have will. I forgot the number of the ones that will fit stock height trucks.

Sorry I have been out of town for quit awhile and finally home today. Yes I’m in Florida in Palm Bay. Central East Coast. Been in Cali then WI for the past three weeks. I did get Monroe’s all around. Was thinking of Gabriel’s for the rear since they’re out and I always liked Gabriel in the past but stuck with the Roes. The Roes as well as the Rancho’s get great write-ups so either one will work. Some say the Ranchos are slightly stiffer so if true then you have a good choice on what you may want in a ride. I don’t care for too stiff a ride as the truck is 90% on the average road surface. I do want a dramatic difference from the screen door pistons that came factory. The Monroe’s should be just what I will want in a ride. I’m installing the rears today at home and the fronts go on Monday at my dealer. I will give a complete review after say a week on the road with them.

Well, now have had the new Monroe’s on the truck for four days and the difference is incredible from stock. I went out to go over some well known dips and bumps that the factory shocks just where almost dangerous on and I almost for got where these spots where with the new shocks. The control all around is 100% better. No more dipping and bouncing. The ride is just slightly harder but not harsh as you might expect. I’m very satisfied. Note the front shocks are clocked slightly different then the factory shocks where at the bottom spring plate stop. This drove the installer a bit nuts untill he figured that he needed to turn the top plate mount one turn to align the mounting plate and the bottom “U” mount to be aligned as a unit. But all is good. The rear shocks took the bounce out of the rear but added a bit if jitter over series bumps. Expected being stiffer. Again not harsh though. So that’s my review on the Monroe's.
