Default How close can a new painted door match factory??

Hey guys,

Got in a wreck today...accidentally left truck running and door open, hopped out to check something in back, thought she was in park and away she went (in reverse) into the van next to me. Bent my front drivers side door to a 90 degree angle. (if you've ever seen the movie Tommy Boy when tommy's at the gas station and the hose wont reach and he backs up with the door open, you know what I have done to my ride) Luckily it will close, not easy though.

Looks like I will need a whole new door.

About how close can a shop get paint on a new door to match factory paint?

Sorry to hear that man. Usually they will pull your paint number and get an exact match so you should be good.

Hope so....it was my fault, but what makes me so mad is that it's my baby (until me and the wife have one) ....park as far out as possible so you dont get scratched dented dinged, etc...and some dumbass has to park next to me!

I park out that for a reason, don't park next to me...idiots!

I'll keep you guyz posted.

if you can, finda place that deals with DUPONT, my grandpa runs a paint store here, and has a hand held machine they hold up to the paint, and gives them and exact paint code to match what ever is on the vehical, in any condition... beond me how it works, but it does, good luck

I had my 2001 Motorsports Edition Dakota repainted, and I couldnt even tell where it started and where the new paint started...and it wasnt just a door, it was a panel on the bed.

I also had my GTP repainted, both from people hitting my car, and the paint is immaculate.

They have systems in place for this now, and as long as you use a legit shop that does the job right, you should have no problems.
