Default Lasers to replace spark plugs someday?

Guys,

Not sure if this has been posted here already, but I saw it a few weeks back and thought it was interesting: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13746_7-10288476-48.html . I think the basic idea is that they could fire the laser multiple times to do a much broader "spark" than the single point we get with our current plugs. I can imagine a lot of potential issues with such a system (like getting the lens dirty), but it is a neat idea.

It is an interesting concept. I like that you considered potential issues. I would worry about the cost of these vehicles. And later on, maintenance. How many times a year would you have to get your "lasers" changed?

Anyway, I'm just glad that Ford is doing this research. I wouldn't this laser technology to fall into the wrong hands. BwaaaHAHAHAHAHA
