Intake Air Temperature?
Eric, how do you have your filter set up to get fresh air dumped directly onto it? That might be my whole problem. I just got back from the store. Engine temp 195, IAT 112, outside temp was 74 and the truck ran better. It loves the cooler air.
That’s why the “power wire” works as it does. True enough the ScanGauge may show say a real-time temp of 150º at the intake, but the power wire tells the ECM it’s not that high and makes the adjustment for a fake cooler reading. I took my power wire off in the cooler season which is not much here in FL to save gas but this time of year it works great. Problem; I loose even more mpg while it’s connected. It’s a catch-22 of sorts.

I pulled my "power wire" thinking I was running too rich. I was getting a lot of soot on the tail pipe.

Nice set up Eric. Looks great inside and out. I'm looking into setting mine up like that. My truck definately runs better when my IAT is lower. Did you have someone do it for you or did you do it yourself? If so, how hard was is? Was it a PITA?

the setup is all a DIY. I made the scoop from a mold I made from a scoop my brother bought. its roughly 6 or 7 layers of fiberglass and chop mat. (.5 inch thick)
the hole wasnt all that bad, I have cleaned it up a lot since that rough cut. I have a video on my youtube channel of it being cut...
If you have a scoop, and a reciprocating saw, I am pretty sure you can do it.
Securing the scoop was the worst part of the whole thing.

Well, I'm putting that on the top of my list of MODS to do. I think it will be a great help, especially during the summer. I'll probably just buy one and get a finishing kit. Did you paint it yourself and clear coat? Also, how do you keep water from getting in the engine compartment?

to keep water out, I have a cover for the opening of the scoop... its just a small piece of abs plastic that I cut to match the opening and on the back it has an expanded foam glue that I trimmed to pressure fit into the opening of the scoop... when it rains, I just pop that on.

I need t have my exhaust show make another attempt at getting a pipe bend to fit my ram-air box to my blower intake. The sound of the air comming into the hood scoop is nasty, lol.
Here is the hole in my hood to fit the ram air box.
