Intake Air Temperature?
Since I got my sc tuner I'm able to monitor eng. temp, air intake, etc. which is pretty cool. I noticed today that my Intake Air temp. was running between 152 degrees and 170 degrees. The outside air temp. was 93 on the overhead console and the engine temp was from 197-210 degrees. Does anyone know if this intake temp. is too high? I've got a K&N CAI (not sure what series but it's the one with the black tube)
I just drove my truck to get some Chinese food. I hooked up my scangauge and it showed about 145 under full load after the engine was warmed up to about 190 degrees. Its about 90 degrees here in Florida.
Has your K&N been cleaned lately?

It's been about 7 months since I cleaned it. How often do you clean it with normal driving conditions? Once a year?
So IAT is 190 with the truck warmed up? The highest I saw today was 170 sitting at a traffic light and it was 93 here in NC.

I was expecting the numbers that you have. I remember last year when they had to replace my Cat that the tech said that my IAT was 20 degrees higher than it should be and told me to put the stock air box back on to bring it back to normal. I didn't really pay attention to him. Maybe I'm not getting too much heat off the engine instead of clean outside air. Would the placement of the IAT sensor make a difference? I have mine closer to the TB.
No, the truck is at 190 water temp, 145 IAT. I clean mine whenever it is dirty. I don't think that the stock airbox would make that big of a difference. My truck was in NC, before I moved down to Florida (Fayetteville).
My IAT is right next to the TB. I have the plastic K&N FIPK. I don't see why your truck is running hotter with the airbox instead of mine which is in Florida. How many miles do you have on your truck? It's running a little warmer than I would expect since I have the same MODS except for Fastman and Jet Chip.
On a side note did you install the Mopar Remote Start yourself? If so how difficult was it.
Baracis what did billy do to insulate his intake tube?

I pull around 100*, but my filter gets fresh air dumped directly onto it... I am not much help here, but I am guessing if the scan gauge is reading 10000 hp its fair to assume its not all that accurate...

I think it is actually pretty accurate with the stock gauges, I can back it up with the VAG COM for my wife's car. The horsepower gauge is one that I made myself based on codes that I got off that PDF. Besides that the stock gauges that came with the ScanGauge (IAT, Water temp, RPM, MPH, MPG, speed, etc).
Dang man, I don't exactly remember. I believe it was just a simple type of insulation you can get at a hardware store. Hopefully he'll read this soon and post up what it is with some pics.

The remote start was already installed when I got the truck. It doesn't look too hard to install though. It makes it very nice to have in the winter.
