Not to worry, there are 1000 other ways to get your HP up. It all comes down to technical knowledge and budget. I'm not a big nitrous fan either. I don't mind alcohol but I'm certainly no fan of nitro methane (top fuel) either. They are fast and cool to watch but when things go wrong, they seem to go wrong big time.

Why not add a turbo? $2600 for a turbo kit, injectors, and tuning? You can run 8-12 psi safely, and double your power rating.
