$40 fix for rear end

Default $40 fix for rear end

I think some of you guys might have already done this, but I figured I would share my good fortune. I went to vatozone and grabbed a pair of leaf spring helpers. Holy f&^% what a difference. Driving on the highway, or going over speed bumps felt ultimately better. Also, I still have the factory struts.

If any of you wheel your truck or tow, this will make you happy.

Does it push the rear of the truck up at all?

Yeah...about 1/4". I am installing 1" blocks next week.

Yeah my father has those Monroe load leveler shocks for his ranger, and I want a pair for the dakota, i see shock warehouse has them for a 2005, but I feel like there was some problem, and they are really for a pathfinder or somthing.

What did you use one of those bolt on half leaf spring helper thing?

Why yes I did. I'm considering getting another set installed in front of the axle.

Do they help with the rear-end shimmy-shake over rough surfaces?

Do you recall what the part number is for the leaf spring helper? I installed the front Monroe struts. What a huge difference up front, but I am still getting a lot of shimmy and shake over rough surfaces. My fold-down center arm rest shakes so much it drives my nuts. What exactly do the helpers do for the ride quality? Thanks for the info.

To be honest, I haven't driven over any wash-board yet. Every day before work, I drive over a speed bump at a slight angle. Before the spring helpers, the truck would rock from side to side REALLY bad as each wheel went over it. Now, it's like the bump is half the height and not at an angle. I love it. I can only imagine what it will feel like when I throw Rancho's on it this winter.
