Default Checking In!!!

Hi:

I've been reading this forum for quite some time and find it very informative.

I bought a new 2005 QC SLT V8 5-Speed Auto, 4-Wheeler in Mineral Grey Metalic. I have 28000 miles on this truck and like it very much. I have the bigger tires (P265/70R16) on it which gives it a nice "stance".

I get the expected mileage in town (15 mpg) and hit a little over 20 mpg on the highway.

I was ALMOST trouble free until my rack and pinion steering went south and of course I was out of warranty for this and it cost me a little over $1,000 to get it replaced. That ended my "trouble free" argument with my Chevy buddies but what can I say, it's only a piece of machinery!!!

Can anybody tell me how in the world you get the back seat headrests out as they REALLY obstruct the view. I found a post of this several pages back and tried to insert a paper clip into a detent to release the darn things but can't get them to budge. What am I doing wrong??? Any help on this would be appreciated as I'm tired of hearing the wife gripe about these backrests being in her way.

Thanks for a nice informative forum.

Default Headrests!!!

My truck is a Quad Cab. The headrests are ON TOP of the seat not bolted to the back of the cab like the Club Cab.

Ahh my bad I missed QC... good try anyways ummm Ericemery is a pro at removing his... I believe they just pop out, and he had to be forceful with his. He should chime in soon.

i should probably make a new thread for this, but in regards to the new rack...are there any other options for fixing the steering a different way? I know on my old dak I had to replace the rack at 40,000mi too! is there a way to change the entire steering over to another type, or is that just too much work to handle?

Ram rack swap? That would be nice. Probably too big.....especially with any lift.
