Question Another question v. Mopar Remote Start

Hey all. My truck is still somewhat new to me. I found a booklet in the glove compartment explaining to useage of the Mopar remote start system. This got me thinking that my truck might have this installed on it. I don't have the remote for it, but is there a way for me to check if it is installed?

If it is installed...is there a way for me to get another remote from the dealer? I think this would be a pretty cool feature to have come these winter months.

Thanks again for all of your help guys.

Out trucks dont have a separate remote like most cars. Well the simplest way to tell is, does your key look like this?

lol! Nope, doesn't look like it does. Is it something that could have been installed after the factory package though? As in, is there a possibility to have a separate remote for the remote start? I will have to check the manual when I get back home to my truck to see a picture of the remote they have listed.

Yeah its possible, it wouldnt be a Mopar one then, unless the dealer added it after it got there. I am sure they would have included the remote though...

I bought my truck used 3 years ago and it had the Mopar remote start installed. It came with a seperate remote. Pretty small compared to the remote key for the truck. There are two ways to tell if it is installed on your truck - 1. There is a small antenna just behind the rear view mirror. It's not very noticeable unless you look for it. 2. Under the dash on the drivers side there is a black control box that will say Mopar Remote Start somewhere on it.

I wish I had the manual for it. I am wanting to see if I could program it to not honk the horn when I activate the remote start. The person before me threw it out I guess.

I hope this helps.

Mine honks twice right before it begins the start-up...

Horn Chirp Programming
The horn chirp feature will be shipped from the assembly
plants activated. If desired this feature can be disabled by
using the following procedure:
1. Press and hold the LOCK button on the transmitter.
2. After holding the LOCK button for four seconds, also
press the PANIC button within 6 seconds. A single chime
will sound to indicate that this feature has changed.
3. Release both buttons at the same time.
4. To reactivate this feature, repeat the above steps.
5. Test the horn chirp feature while outside of the vehicle,
by pressing the LOCK button on the transmitter
with the ignition in the OFF position and the key
removed.
NOTE: Pressing the LOCK button on the transmitter,
while you are inside the vehicle, will activate the Security
Alarm. Opening a door with the Security Alarm activated
will cause the alarm to sound. Press the UNLOCK button
to deactivate the Security Alarm.
6. If the desired programming was not achieved or to
reactivate this feature, repeat the above steps.

Ask and you shall receive...

Thanks man! I've been wanting to silence it since I got my truck. I'll try it when I get home later today.

Now, I wasn't able to locate any hidden box underneath the steering wheel or a receiver located near the rearview mirror. Any idea on what these things look like? It looks as if it was installed after the factory package as one of these pictures shows a separate remote control for the remote start.
