all the shock companies make any and every kind and size of shock and coil over with user defined spring rates. all you would have to do is measure the collapsed height and extended height and there ya go. as far as boxed arms for the front. noone makes them for our trucks but trophy truck companies like camburg and total chaos have told me if i wanted arms i could send in my stockies and they would make boxed in ones to my spec... a little pricey, so im building my own. and for extended tie rods just go to a heims supplier and do that. for the rears im still researching which deaver product number would fit...im thinking ranger or Tacoma long travel leaves would be good. and then shackles are a piece of cake to make.

its not hard....as much as it is attention to measurements. that's what i hate about the ranger and taco kids. their all about bolt on kit this and bolt on that. Ive made control arms and links and cages. simple math and some shop tools and its easy. people are just to afraid to jump into it themselves. my long travel project is on hold becuase i just picked up a 300zx twin turbo that needs some love. but once shes on the road. ill start my long travel thread for all you desert guys. and because theres a few ppl on here that dont believe me or think it can be done. im resisting the urge to post pics.

So I need upper and lower controls and bigger coils and shock for the front. What about the rear. If you can pm me about this that be great

our trucks are almost identical to newer Tacomas as far as suspension. Yes if you want true usable travel. this will give you about 3-4" of lift but youll be able to cycle your suspension all the way up and down freely. (good for jumps, whoops, and whatever else)
  1. Extended tubular upper arms with uniballs on spindle side and heims (for adjustability) on the frame side
  2. Extended Lowers with poly bushing on frame side and 1" uniball on spindle side, can be tubular but pref. boxed and plated
  3. Tie rod extender (all thread union) with heims to replace the tie rod ball joint
  4. coilover from your favorite desert fab company with the min and max travel specs (to be determined by you)
  5. deaver high arch leaf springs (not sure from which truck yet)
  6. might have to make shackles
  7. smooth body resivoir shocks for the rear (with the min and max height, which you will measure)
oh and of course some nice SS extended brake lines

this is what ive come up with so far. i have the jig for my control arms which are extended 3" on each side for a total of a 6" wider span in the front (im making fiberglass fenders as well) and a half bed cage for the rear shocks.

none of these are my products or my trucks. but you get the idea of what is involved and what im currently designing for 2005-2006 2wd dakotas.

That's effin' nuts bro. I'm thinking you have wayyyy too much time on your hands to commit to a challenge like that but it's gonna' be sick when it's done though so props to you.

Why are you make fiberglass fenders? To make the truck lighter or are you making them wider? When your done with the Upper and lower control ares will you be selling them? Or selling them to a company for them to produce?

its not really a challenge....making a control arm from scratch is a challenge. i have a factory control arm i just made a jig for and extended 3" out.

im not sure whats going to happen when the kit is complete. i know alot of dakota guys will finally have some light at the end of the tunnel but as much as people hate on our demand for parts and companies dont want to get involved. it may be my little secret toy.

once i figure out how much everything will cost, ill do a write up and maybe if someone is REALLY interested than we will talk.

i HAVE to get fiberglass fenders for many reasons. (wider tires= wider body by law, fiber glass is lighter, easier to remake in case of accident)

without wider fenders....this wouldnt be right vvvvvvvv

and i have other cars i can drive so having the truck out of commision is no biggie.

So the only reason the tires would stick out would be because there wider it has nothing to do with the control arms being 3'' longer correct. If you make this a kit count me in I want to be the first lifted 2WD Raider lol
