Changing front bumper cover
I have a 2007 Dodge Dakota ST in silver with the basic flat black front and rear bumpers. I was wondering if anyone knew if and where you can get a silver bumper cover installed or if you can even buy one and install it yourself. I don't like looking at that flat black bumper all the time, and I would like a bumper with install points for fog lamps too
Thanks

Thanks
Take your bumper cover off ( 3 torx screws on the top and 3 in each wheel well). Take it down to a body shop, and get them to paint it! Should be around 300 bones. Oh and be real carfull and cut out you fog light holes...if you take your time it will look good!
I dont even need the fog lamps really, haha. Itd be nice to have them but I would really just be happy with having it painted the same color as my truck. Thanks for the advice
I am not sure if a body shop will paint it though. I feel like we touched on this once before. Because of the material the non-painted bumper is made out of, the time required to clean sand prime and paint it, etc.
I think it would be cheaper to go to a body shop and buy a primed ready to paint replacement.
I feel your pain though, its an eyesore....it might not be so bad if the bumper wasnt HUGE, but since it is, the gray IS ugly. I always tell myself (so i feel better about it) that I can bump into this and that and not have to worry about the paint! lol

Before the rollover I had spoken to body shops about this. It's cheaper to buy a ready to paint bumper from the dealer and then have a shop paint it than the amount of prep they need to do a good job painting the gray one.
You'll love it, I hated that mine came with the grey plastic ones (to add insult to injury all the SLT's from '06 on got the painted ones).

LOL Guys... I did this in 2008. Go to MAACO.. (No Joke) ... have them order the ready to paint bumper... and have em paint it. I bought a front and rear bumper, had them paint it and clear coat it. It came to $275... Granted I was in Iraq at the time so I'm sure there was a price cut down, but definitely take it to the cheaper places who need buisness and will work with you.

That actually looks pretty good for MAACO, lol. They must have stepped up their game a bit since I last heard of them. I live in an area where there is no MAACO though unfortunately. Nearest one is Peoria but Ill have to give the local body shops around here a call.
