Ball joints

After working on the front end of my 06 Dakota, I found the source of my left-front noise. The stabilizer bar end link connector on the left side is worn at the bottom.
I thought it was a ball joint, but it was the ball-socket end of the end link connector. I just got them in from rockauto.com. I will replace them this weekend.

vice grips and deepwell sockets and adjustable wrench
Quick DIY:
Put the ebrake on. Break loose the lug nuts. Lift the front of the truck and remove both tires. To remove the top part of the of the link grab a-hold of the link below where it mounts on the stabilizer with the adj. wrench to keep it from turning while you remove the top nuts (which will most likely break). To remove the bottom point grab the link on the top of where it mounts on the lower control arm with the vice-grips (below the boot, on the round piece it will keep it from spinning). Do the same thing on the other side. Rotate the stabilizer up and out of the way, this is why you need to remove both first. Attach both of them on the bottom side the same way with the vice grips and torque them down. Line up the links and rotate the stabilizer so that they rest on the links. Tighten them down and you are good to go.

Hey Wobly....maybe that is what my problem is too....how did you test for that or is it just visual?i really dont see any movement in my ball joints........my front end is really makinga racket now(BOTH SIDES) ....especially when the tire extends down into a dip or hole...
Replacing the connector stopped the klunking while driving.

To those who were following my problem it was the sway bar links.they make a heck of a noise....(Im so happy its not ball joints). It was not a big deal to change even with limited mechanical skills.Very good instructions from CUBAN11182.THANKYOU...And to all others that gave advice..THANK YOU...
One last question on them....Do you need a torque wrench to tighten them down???and at what and at poundage? or just a good tighten will do?
thanks again

I think I busted one of mine when putting on my leveling kit a month or so back. It makes a clunk when going over a bump. I can also hear it 'click' when I rock the truck back and forth. Does this sound like the same problem? I am pretty sure I spun the hell out of it putting it back on (I wasn't paying attention and didn't have a wrench holding it  on the other end!
And if so....are these the ones I need to buy from Rockauto? Damn they are expensive!
