there are true 3.92 front and rear kits...
If your going to .92, you might as well just go to 4.10... really wake that truck up.
If I didnt have to drive the highway so much, I would go for 4.56's but 4.10's with an auburn LSD are high on my list of mods. probably this winter when work slows down.

I can do all the work myself, I am not a professional by any means but I have been able to do everything on all my vehicles from engine swaps to transmission rebuilds and custom drive shafts. All it takes is some research and access to the right tools.
I take extraordinary pride in being able to figure anything out that needs figuring. If there is a kit for a 4.10 out there then I am on that ASAP. Thanks guys!

i have the precission gear 4.10 set in my 05 4 x 4, was 1600 to have it installed and took the guy 2 days. it is a little more time consuming for the frt, because of the suspension, all in all, very good job and did wonders for the truck, i too had the 3.55 corporate rear, when doing the swap, get the master rebuild kit, not the 1/2 kit,

Just be careful gettin it right.. settin the backlash and pinion depth are critical. any error will severely reduce the life of the gear and greatly increase the possibility of catastrophic failure.
IIRC Randys ring and pinion (maybe ring and pinion .com) had a really good writeup on installing gears properly. Also check out alot of the Jeep boards as they're usually good for that kinda info too...
I've done several sets of gears, D44 D35 D60 and ford 9" the ford is by far the easiest to setup. the rest of them are pretty much a pain as you have to assemble multiple times to get things correct.
Also depending on your setup, you can use a solid sleeve instead of a crush sleeve for the pinion, but again it depends on application.
BTW, just to throw out some numbers.. I'm currently running 5.38 gears in the Jeep.. now thats a tall gear...

Did a gear swap on an '05 Dak 4wd from 3.92 to 4.10.
Installer was 4WheelParts. They use G2 brand gears.
The front worked fine, no noise etc.
BUT THE REAR HAS BEEN A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT
Loud whine from 50mph through 75mph on first set.
Worse whine on second set.
Called G2 corporate and they admitted that their gears whine on the 9.25 application.
Called several Yukon brand dealers and they all admitted that their gears whine on the 9.25 application also.
Did extensive research and discovered that Dodge DOES have OEM 4.10 gears for the 9.25 differential.
Ordered them today. Part # 5015371AD. $778 with tax and shipping.

Your question is "Why spend all that money for such a small ratio change?"
Answer: I live in an area of hilly terrain and I tow trailers frequently. (1500lb to 6000lb). Believe me... the 4.10 ratio is perfect. In all speed ranges the tranny remains in one higher gear than with the 3.92.
Whether towing or not towing in hilly terrain, my mpg is about 10% better with the 4.10.
Long distance, towing a 4500lb travel trailer at 60-65mph with no wind I'm averaging 12.3 mpg with the 4.10 vs 10.1mpg with the 3.92. Driveability is much improved due to tranny staying in 5th overdrive on moderate grades and in 4th on long steep grades.
Note:I do NOT use the tow mode because it has a tendency to downshift to 3rd vs. 4th on long steep grades.Exception is with trailer weights above 4300lb where the tow mode seems to help.
The bad news: On long distance flat terrain (not towing) at 70mph my mpg is about 5% worse than with the 3.92.

Wow! Thanks for that post 05Dakotaho! I'll also be using 4WheelParts to install some 4.10 gears. I was thinking about using their gear brand to save on time and frustration but now I think I'll buy another brand and just have them do the install.
I'm looking forward to this because with the 3.55's, heavy 18" wheels and a sluggish trans this thing is fatiguing to drive. You always feel like you are fighting it. But with 4.10's and the SuperChips 3865 with new Trans programming (when they finally get around to releasing it) it should drive soooooo much better.
