Default 16 plugs in a 4.7

Soo... i know that the spark plug issue has probably been beaten to death. but......... i have discovered that some of the new 4.7L actually have 16 plugs... such as mine. Im sure most of you know this but my dealer once again did not. I had to go to a different dealer to figure this out and come back with information. why do i try lol just thought i would put this out there incase someone was unsure.
If any one is wondering what is running in them from factory on the upper row (intake valve side). is a Bosch Nickel Yttrium. the lower row (exhaust valveside). Bosch Iridiums. i am unsure of anyspecfic numbers except dodge part no.
and if any one knows why a socket will not catch on the plug to losen some advice would be greatly appriciated got a small project for the weekend lol

http://www.allpar.com/mopar/47.html in case your curious and yes its a semi hemi lol MOPAR!!!

Yes the new 4.7's have the dual spark plug like the Hemis. This started in 2008 I believe.

The reason that a standard socket will not grab the plug is because there is a special socket to remove them. It's called a spark plug socket and has a little rubber bushing inside that grabs the sparkplug. Good luck this weekend. Make sure you blow out the plug holes with compressed air prior to pullin the plud to get any loose dirt out of there.

Der um... yes I know bout the spark plug socket. guess some people may not. used one many times lol I also need a thin wall socket to get at my top row of plugs due to tight clearances. under the coil problem is the right front on the lower row th socket will not grab. and there is also two different 4.7L one with eight and one with sixteen. but that also comes from the dealer maybe they just wanned to cover they're *** for telling me the wrong info. lol anyways back to the difficult plug anyone know why

Default Prior to 2008, they had 8 starting in 2008 they have 16

So if the dealership told you that and knew it was a 2008 or later model they are full of it. I have a 2007 "flex-fuel" aka the "normal" 4.7 (as opposed to the HO and the CA only models.) It uses 8 plugs and is rated at about 230ish HP. Your semi-hemi is more like 305 and is rated about 1mpg better too IIRC.

That dealer is clearly retarded. If I were you I wouldn't bring my truck there anymore. All the 08+ 4.7l dakotas have two plugs per cylinder, it boggles my mind that a dealer would not know this...

it's unfortunate that dealers still suck so bad! I have given them many opportunities to redeem themselves however, they always seem to fall flat! Good luck w/ changing the plugs this weekend. all this talk about plugs...i have to do mine someday! 57k miles on my 2006.

If you go into the service drive through and talk to an adviser then yes you will most likely get a bunk answer...anytime you have an actual question regarding your vehicle ask those guys to speak to a tech, most of us don't mind coming up front to answer a question or two. keep in mind that we are all flat rate and don't get paid to talk so if you can keep it to the point that's always best lol.

I agree. If you ask to talk to a tech the info you get should be correct. the service writers should know but thats 50/50 same with sales. Sometimes when you ask to talk to a tech the writer may tell you there all busy and most times we are. You need to go past the writer and just go in the shop like you know what your doing then start to ask ?'s
