Default Finally got that Exhaust!

Finally got my exhaust. Guy gave me a deal, for $170, I got a single-in dual-out used flowmaster, with turndowns. I love it on startup, but the drone at cruising speed is driving me CRAZY. Would putting a resonator or maybe a new muffler on help this? thanks, kyle

Yes the resonator would lessen the drone.

According to the guy at the local muffler shop I used to use (different state now) the flows tend to have more cab drone. Mine doesn't drone as much as my buddy's with flows by a long shot (cherry bomb vortex on mine). I've heard the best ones if you hate the drone in cab are borla and corsa but they aren't cheap.

A resonator will probably help but it will also change the sound coming out of the pipe and quiet it down a bit.

yeah I think I'm going to go ahead and get a cherrybomb on there eventually. But doesn't turndowns contribute to the drone? Since it's hitting the ground and bouncing right back to the truck?

I have a single flowmaster 40 that exits out the passenger side like stock....minimal drone.

I find the number of people that dump their exhaust then say it drones too much astounding. That's like piping the exhaust into the cab and saying it drones too much.
Get the exit out from under the vehicle.

Gibson's I've had in the past have been minimal for droning as well. I've had two single set-ups and a dual on past trucks and none of them droned much at all. I'm actually waiting on a 3" stainless sideswept to get here for my truck now.

Yes turndowns will drone more. When I cut my exhaust tip off to sandblast and paint it I cut it to effectively be a turndown, created quite the drone till I finished painting and got the tip welded back on. (Paint boiled off after a week or so, 600 degree paint does not hold up on exhaust tips it seems)
