Looking for Tire recommendations BF Goodrich
Hello, I am partial to BR Goodrich as I have had great experience with them on my Vette and other vehicles I own. That said, I'd like to trash these crappy factory tires that came on my 2006 Dodge Dakota SLT Quad Cab.
I am looking at the Rugged Trail T/A or the Radial Long Trail T/A. Does anyone have any suggestions on which tire would be best of the BF Goodrich line?
I do not do a lot of off roading, but live in Wisconsin where it can be cold and snowy. Ideally I'd like something that will last a long time, will be good enough for occasional off road, primarily snow/rain. Good traction, and a good quiet ride. I do not put a large amount of miles on the truck and my daily commute is typically about 4 miles round trip. That said, I want something that could still work well on a long hiway haul if need be.
I think the All Terrain and the Mud Terrain are probably out.
Thoughts? What are others using? Thanks.

the AT is great in the winter, quiet in the summer and lasted me about 2 years and 100,000km on my previous truck.
No experience with the tires you are actually interested in though sorry...

I have heard bad things about the rugged trail. Decent traction, however bad wear on them. I have heard better treadwear on the AT's.
Every Tacoma I have seen with the rugged trail tires (with more than 25,000miles) needs new rubber already!
just my two pennies.

I upsized my old Ford from a 235/75-15 to a 31X10.50. My best friend installed them just before last winter and it was the FIRST winter he was able to follow me into the back-country to go snowshoeing without me having to pull him out repeatedly.
Edit: He kept the factory tire size.

I bought my '06 with 27k and still had decent tread on the Goodyear Eagle LS 255/65/16's when I switched at 50k but they were showing their age. I went with the BF Goodrich Long Trail T/A's based on a co-worker's recommendation and my own research. His first choice was actually the Rugged Trail T/A's but his experience was with 4WD in Montana and I have 2wd in SE Georgia and don't do go off road but I do tow a car occasionally. I've been happy with them so far but the Eagles are listed at 28lbs and the T/A's are listed at 36lbs (more typical for this size) and I can tell the difference.
What size did you go with? I've got the stock rims and was thinking of going from the 245/70R 16 to the 265/70R16 and the ATs. Thanks.
I've got 265/75's on my stock 16's now. I noticed a hit in performance for sure. the 70's wouldn't be quite so bad and the AT's are much lighter than my goodyears. I still wish I would have gone with my gut and bought another set of BFG AT's.
