I cant tell you the last time I have seen a gravel road. I am obviously not great when it comes to cars. I just want a nice truck to drive to and from work. I thought a dodge forum would be the place to ask. Thanks to all who offered a legit response I appreciate it.

Another happy customer.

You're fine, the truck is fine, it's a truck. It's quite understandable that a Fulltime 4WD Jeeper would be suprised how a traditional 4WD behaves on pavement. Dakotas are heavy and have wide tires, lots of friction. More importantly:

Make sure that truck's brakes are in good shape. Based on reports on this forum, some guys have warpy fronts and vibrating rear drums, and the drums can be solved with a dealer repair. Check balljoints. Ask when the shocks were last replaced. The 05's and 06's had the worst of the spongy shock syndrome.

Here the only gravel I have come across is my driveway... I cant even think of one within 25 miles...

You came to the right place, dont mind him. You dont have to be a pro when it comes to the basics. Most the members here are here to help, so ask away. We have helped several decide if the dakota was what they wanted and questions they had before they purchased one. We can offer what most have come across with the downsides and upsides of owning one.

The brakes seemed fine the only other thing I could find to make me hesistant was it was making a strange noise. It was not loud you had to have the windows up and radio down to hear it. It sounded like a rubber on rubber noise some where in front. I told them they would have to get rid of that. The delearship said they thought it was some bushing and or a strut they are replacing those now. If that eliminates the sound I will be picking it up this evening thanks again

What I would do, is, take it for another test drive, and get er to about 60 or 65, and press the brakes rather heavily...

My friends 05 shakes a LOT, and ya, that's bad.

yeah. my 06 shakes with a heavy brake press from highway speeds. i have been wondering if it was the front rotors or the rear drums. i guess I know now. thanks again DF!

That sounds like sway bar bushings to me, I had mine replaced under warranty and the sound was similar before they replaced them. Now that it's out of warranty if they need replacing I'll find poly bushings.

Thanks for all your respones guys. Went and picked it up tonight I have only gotten to drive it for an hour or so but I like it alot. Took it out on the highway and tried braking hard at 65 or so and had no vibrations or anything like that.. Seems like I got a good truck
