Alright throw my theory out the window. I guess the climate controls are the same for the '08+ models, seems odd they wouldn't mention it in the manual though.

TlmGlk19 if you don't have that button it looks like your truck didn't come with the defrosted rear window or mirrors. The previous owner must have wired it up to a switch somewhere (it's also possible it's not hooked up at all, though unlikely). I would look around for any switch that looks like it was added, alternatively you could pull the trim panels off and trace the wire.

The problem is my dash only has the AC button and no Defroster button at all as shown in Altair's dashboard pics loaded from Dodge's site. I have looked for "add on " switches but have not found any within the drivers reach.

I am afraid that I may have to take MrCrash's advice and attempt to trace the wires. Not exactly my idea of fun. I will wait until the weather allows for a fogging of my read window and see if it just turns on when I move the dial to defrost the front window.

I think its you have either nothing or heated mirrors or a rear defrost. One or the other, just not both.

I just have the mirrors, Have the back with the sliding window. I know it isn't a defroster. Just saying, that button is what controls my mirrors.

I am pretty sure you could get both, whichever combination you have it's all on that switch. It appears if your truck came with neither then they put in a slightly different panel with no switch at all.

Taking the panels out to trace it really isn't too bad, I've had everything from the dash back out before except the center console and front seats. If you download the service manual from the sticky at the top of this section (hopefully the link is up) it has all the info for removal in it. (If it's not up let me know, I can upload a copy to rapidshare or something if need be)

If your truck came with tow package it includes heated mirrors. If the extra option of rear defroster was ordered, you also get heated mirrors on the same switch, tow pkg or not.

I suspect someone replaced the broken window with the defroster model (maybe a junkyard bargain or a misorder?) and it isn't connected.

I too first thought that it was probably not hooked up. However it there are wires connected at the terminals at either side of the window.
Thanks for offering help. I'll let you know.

Is this true for all the models? I have the tow package and all, plus my manual says "If Equipped". Can someone with heated mirrors snap a picture of there mirrors... I have the rear defrost but I still havent figured out if I have the heated mirrors, and they dont appear to be heated or atleast I havent noticed them. I havent had ice on em...
