There would not be much usable light with that setup, better off with the stock bulbs at that point as visibility would suck.

ya no ****... but the "cool factor" you gain with them, is all that matters!

I mean, seriously... why would anyone buy that high of a temp?!

5000k is gonna be my setup with 3000k fogs...

Just a bit of info for you guys. Do with it as you please.

Useful, impartial information on HID plug and play systems

That's almost too much reading, I got about halfway, and stopped caring.

Good info but most use retrofit to refer to transplanting the entire HID projector assembly with all optics intact into the desired headlight housing. He seems to use it to refer to everything including kits.

To retrofit something means to place, or install a part or assembly into a setting to which it was not intended or was not originally designed to include. So by him calling plug and play kits "retrofits" he is entirely correct. Projector retrofit would be the proper way to describe the installation of HID projector assemblies.

He acknowledges these projector retrofits in the last paragraph and partially supports them:

"In the aftermarket, it is possible to get clever with the growing number of available products, such as Hella's modular projectors available in HID or halogen, and fabricate your own brackets and bezels, or to modify an original-equipment halogen headlamp housing to contain optical "guts" designed for HID usage"

And it should be noted that he actually provides concrete proof (independant studies, 3 of them) that HID conversion kits are illegal and annoying for a reason. I don't care how much you THINK your HID lights are not dangerous to other drivers, they are, they are illegal, and only in rare cases do they provide more night vision in our headlamps. I have installed these kits in two of my previous vehicles, then I purchased my RX-8 with REAL HID lights and the difference is profound.

I am not saying people with HID retrofits/conversions are bad people, but it should be known that the little bit you gain may not be worth the aggravation that you (and I did) bestow upon other motorists. My friend has an 07 Dakota with high quality conversion parts (Ballast from a BMW X5, rebased Philips D2S bulbs) and he pisses my dad off when he follows my dad in his lifted 2008 F-350. That's after re-aiming the lights.

It should also be noted, that neither me nor the author of that website has ANYTHING to gain by informing people of the drawbacks to HID lighting in halogen housings.

I think I figured it out... I mostly get flashed when I run my fog lights with my low beams. Anyone else have this problem?

Nope... turn em down with a half/quarter turn to the adjustment screw then.
