I was thinking about swapping a hemi into my Raider but the more i think about it i just gonna do a 4.7L swap

I was gonna do the 4.7L swap with Air Ram built auto tranny and shift kit. Cams, Intake Manifold, KN Intake, TB, JBA Header, Electric Fan, Tune, Forged: Piston, Rods and Valves, LSD, 4.10 gears, and a 150 shot of nitrous,

yeah same here, I thought all the tow packages had the 3.92's, but soon found out otherwise when I got my build sheet. I've been around Ford's too long, my Ranger's with factory towing always got the lower gears, it was part of the package.

if you're going to be doing a huge custom setup, why not use a ford 9" rear end?

They are about as solid as you can get. They are test proven on MANY high speed race cars.

just a thought...

Alright i just checked and the rear is a 8.25... bummer but do you think it will hold up with the 5.7 motor with a cam and headers? because theres a lsd for it for 260. should i go for that or just save for a new axle?

Depends how you treat it. Some guys rock crawl with 37" tires on Dana 35's. It sounds like you're going to enjoy your power though, and you are going to design your 4 link specifically to your axle. It would be a shame to blow it up and rebuilt your whole rear suspension.

Also...you ought to research this stuff on your own, nothing wrong with asking the forum, but you're going to want to study this up and down. Every step of the way, every part, have a plan.

Off road forums talk axles all the time. A quick Google search yields a bunch of axle comparo threads.

Nothing wrong with an ambitious project, but tons of threads start with "So what do you think about..." or "So I want to do this..."

Not many start with "Check out what I just got done with..."

Go out and do some research, and spread the knowledge. No one has done what you want to do, so no one will be able to give you a good answer. You'll have to find it out from somewhere else, or take a risk and build it, or overbuild it and spend money. Like they say, fast, cheap or reliable, pick two.
