Default Battery question

Of course we all know that cold weather is a death knell for old batteries. My question is, if you are driving a new truck/car and the battery is for some reason no good, will it die even if you have just finished driving say...200 miles? My thought is, that the battery, being bad will not hold a charge no matter how far you drive. Your thoughts.

I had a battery fail on me in my old truck, I could drive for hours and the truck wouldn't start again. Replaced the battery and it never gave me trouble again.

If it's bad then it's bad and it doesnt matter how far you drive. You can drive without a battery you just cant start the truck once it's off.

Just replace it and have one less thing to worry about. My poor battery finally gave out after almost 5 years and 95,000 miles of service, lol. The -15 temp was too much for it so I had to replace it yesterday.
