If they are used wouldn't the original owner have the bolts?

If not, whatever you do, make sure you get Grade 8 bolts. Maybe bring it down to your local hardware/auto parts store, and ask if you can test fit the bolts they sell to find out what fits...

Why 8s and not 9s or 5s, etc? Its only a step bar, I would almost go with 5s so I didnt rip the body apart or mounts if the step bars were hit in anyway or you got hung up on them, or I would check and see what grade were shipped with the kit before you got it... Just throwing bolts of any grade might not be the best idea.

what about if for whatever reason Shamu wants to ride in his truck?

I have a feeling a lesser grade bolt MAY not hold said person.

Do you realize how much a grade 8 can hold? or for that matter a 5?

Here, read up, its a good article explaining the difference between the two... http://www.rockcrawler.com/techrepor...ners/index.asp

Just an FYI yielding is when steel begins to stretch.

Now if we were talking about something other than the step bars, I would prolly agree 8s would be choice.

are you talking about the oe style stebs that bolt up to the body mounts? if so every dodge i have messed with uses the same bolt with or without steps, and IIRC these body lift bolts are plenty long to do the job
