Default steering issues

I have a 2006 dodge dakota and my p/s Pump went bad. I replaced it with a new one and it worked great. Its been about 2 weeks and the steering is starting to feel alittle weird. When i turn it sometimes it wont straiten out by itself and it fights with me everyonce ina while. I just put a 2 inch leveling kit in it but im not sure if that would effect anything.
Can you help??

My 2005 was doing the same thing . I took it to Dodge and they replaced the intermediate shaft? its the shaft that goes into your steering box from coming down from the inner cab and has a iniversal joint on it . They said its a common problem with these trucks it binds then bends.. cost $344 but it fixed the problem. My symptoms were the same as you guys are describing tight when turning, sticking. Call the dealer and ask about it.

I replaced a Int. Shaft as well, same problem. But, since you just put the leveling kit in, you should get the front end inspected, make sure your rack is A-OK. I blew through a couple power steering racks fast, once I had my leveling kit removed, I never had a problem again.

But that was just me, others have been totally fine.

Take it in, get it checked out.

I just had my " lower " intermediate shaft replaced because i felt " play " in the steering. Dealer did it and the play is still there, almost worse now. So i did some digging and come to find out theres and upper and a lower intermediate shaft on there trucks. One is under the hood the other is attached to the steering column and then attached to the lower shaft. Seems like the uppers cause just as much of a problem.

My question is has anyone change the upper intermediate shaft themselves? I hate to take it back to the dealer. It looks simple according to the service manual.
