Default Pinion seal leak

I got my oil changed yesterday. They told me I had a pinion seal leak...something like that. I'm not sure what that is. Something to do with the rear differential? Anyone know what it is? Thanks

I had mine leak under warranty. It was the front lip seal where the drive shaft went into the rear diff.

Ditto here. The dealership did a replacement. Drove off the lot and the whole truck vibrated at 45mph. Turned around, took it back and the tech rode with me to troubleshoot.

Tech put it on the rack and adjusted something in about 5 minutes.

Problem solved. Or so I thought. 12,000 miles later the front pinion bearing failed.

I firmly believed that the tech over-torqued the darn thing.
