This is what I did to replace the factory Alpines. You have to fill the left-over holes with something. I chose 44mag valve stem caps. This way I can go back to stock easily. Honestly, the Alpines are a pretty high quality speaker set-up...they just need new electronics feeding them. I have a 3-way electronic X-over sending High Frequency to the tweets, thus bypassing the need for passive boxes. I like this set-up a lot better, but you'll need more amplifier channels. I replaced the Alpines with Polks before I added the new head-unit X-over and amps. Sometimes I think about switching back. If you have the factory Alpines, they should be the last component replaced in the system. The tweets are 1" silk domes behind that gray plastic, and the 6.5" woofs have big magnets, vented pole-piece, and butyl rubber surrounds.

Notice the plasic "rivets" that must be melted out from the backside (I used a fine soldering iron tip). You could always reinstall with epoxy. There is also a capacitor here. You would want to bypass this if using an electronic crossover.

This is the back of the tweeter. I used a piece of 1/4 plastic to cover the stock hole and act as a backing to screw the new mount into. Putty on the back of the 44 mags.

I went a little more costom with mine, (with Clarion tweeters)
Mine are in the A pillers and the sound from them bouncing off the windshield sounds awesome. the sound bounces off the window and is not pointed right at me so much. I think it sounds cleaner this way.

Easy to do, just remove the plastic piller pieces and figure out where you want to mount them on the piller, then mark the spot with a drilled hole, I made some measurement to get mine Identically placed on both pillers, then use a hole saw to cut the hole for the tweeter to sit in, don't go to big, you want the tweeter to fit snug, some trimming my be needed. then just run the wires,

Have you pick yours up yet, I got the silk dome tweeters, which I suggest, there's less of a tinny sound to them like some of the others. unless you like the tinny sound which some people do it's just not my fav.

Just another Idea to bounce around your head!
Cheers

Mine are in the corner of where the bottom of the windshield corner meets the dash. Great sound that way, off the windshield like biker said. Sorry no pics with me...
