Alpine Speakers/Amp?

I am running the type R's, with around 170 watts running them.
There is a lot more to sound than just sensitivity. How the speaker is made, and what is used to make it is also a big factor.
I am reading this and wondering how anyone can compare pioneer to alpine.
That to me is like comparing MB to focal... One has won all kinds of awards and sound offs, the other is just a decent sounding speaker...
Not saying that I wouldnt consider pioneers, but they would have to be the right set.
a nice set of MB quarts would put both the alpines and pioneers to shame, and run off 40 watts...

Same here, perhaps I haven't listened to the right ones but I've never come across a set of Pioneers I liked.
Me im more of a heavy metal/hardcore music kind of guy and my latest project has been speakers. Im right tight with a local audio guys and i have a big discount so i have on order the JBL heavy component speakers that retail at 500 for 230 and then im just putting coaxials in the back that will fill in the sound. Im stoked, i had to get a Alpine 5-channel amp just to power them but i havent gotten them in yet and im waiting impaciently. With parts and install not including price of amp im $547 for the speakers and install. Im gunna wait a while before i get a sub. im trying to get the JL 13.5in tw5 in my truck but i gotta save up awhile.
