Default The best option to fit 285's

Ive owned my 08 dakota for just over a year now and i love the thing. good power, does a great smoke show and so on. 3/8 ton all the way. it is an 08 dakota sxt quad cab. it came with 245's, it now has 265's but ultimatly i want a set of 285 bfg mt km2's. i noticed that lift kits do not exist for our application and was wondering if anyone can lend some insight into which leveling kit for the front will suit me the best. i was planning on getting the 2" daystar polly kit, and making a 1 inch block for the rear since my truck sits fairly level already. any input or pointers would be great thanks.

more than likely you will need the leveling kit plus a 3in body lift to stuff the 285's in there

I have 275/65/18s on my 08 with a small amount of rubbing at odd angles.

I put a 2inch Daystar leveling kit on mine and it looks almost perfectly level but idt it would fit any bigger than 31s withiut horribly rubbing and doing some damage to the body.

Read these and it will help you decide what tire you can run, watch your over all tire diameter thats what caused most of these guys problem with rubbing.. Cya Slick

Colin I am gonna recommend you stick with 265/75 max.

Ive had a TM leveling kit, and then later I had a Daystar leveling kit, and ran 265/75 BFG ATs for quite a while.

Those tires never rubbed with or without the leveling kit, but I had some BFG muds that did rub a bit.

285s are too large of a tire for this truck. even with a leveling kit and body lift alot of guys report quite a bit of rubbing.

Even if you do a 2" front and 1" rear, the 265s wont look small, they will look perfect. 285s open a whole can of worms. The front mudflaps will rub, your really going out there with your gearing, depending on what tire you are looking at in 285s the weight can be really heavy for that front end.
