Spark Plugs?

Yeah ... I guess there is a reason they recommend using an air compressor for the job. I hope mine goes ok tomorrow. Im having a mechanic help me out, but I looked and it doesnt look like much fun. I have 100k on mine and Im not sure if my plugs have been changed at all. Im hoping they havent just because I should notice I nice improvment then. I hope I didnt make the wrong decision with going with the Champions.

I think my factory plugs were NGK copper plugs..

I changed them at 32,000 and they really could have stayed in for another year or so...but once you have one out..might as well change them.

I changed the plugs and used Autolite Double Platinums, at the standard gap thats stated int eh book or under the hood, cant remember. Think it was .035 or .040.

They have been in for a year or so, and about 15,000 miles. Ran exactly the same when took the old out and put the new in.

Hopefully I will get 60k or more out of them, thats the plan.

Probably wont check them again until 100,000 miles unless I can tell something is up.

I've got E3's in the HO motor (J vin if I recall).

They seem to work well. No complaints but don't expect miracles... they are only spark plugs.

Congrats, I'm glad that it worked out for you. I was really impressed with the NGKs and that is probably the only plug I will run in the truck from now on.

Well I changed mine out this morning. The factory ones were Champions, and they were pretty bad with most of them having gaps of over .100. The electrodes were almost gone on some of them, others not. They all had that nice coffee color to them. Replaced with the new champions and then engine seems to just run smoother, but no difference in power. Not a hard job at all though even with the coils on each plug.

or the
NGK Spark plugs 4644??

so umm i wanna replace my spark plugs... open the hood to find them i cant.. look at my hanes book and they dont give a good enough pic to where there at. where i would think they would be is where the fuel injectors are. there not internal plugs are they?

For your first question, all I can say is stock Champion plugs seem to do just fine IMO. I was trying to find a different plug, but I couldnt find a store with any in stock and everyone had their own opinion. The Champions did fine for 100k before I changed them, and Im sure they will be fine for me again.

For your second question, the spark plugs are underneath their own individual coils. They are right where you would expect spark plugs to be. You will have to remove the air tube to the throttle body to access all the plugs. But where they are, you will see a set of wires running to each one, and there will be one bolt. I believe 11mm. Remove that bolt, and the coil will pull straight out. Then you will need a long extention to get to the spark plug.

Also make sure to BLOW OUT any leaves or dust that may have collected down there, you don't want those leaves to fall into your engine when you remove the spark plug. Also get some silicon grease or something similar and lube up the coil O-Ring the the Grommet boot while you have them out. You want to keep those puppies oiled so they don't dry out. If you need picks of that i will be happy to take some.
