Default overhead display mpg's?

just thinking about my last fill up... i drive at least 300 miles before toping off the tank, and i cant recall ever putting more than 17-18 gallons in, which comes out somewhere 16.5-17.5 mpg's,(at the worst i have ever done), however the overhead display has never showed anything over 12.8 anyone else noticed this, or is my system screwed up? at least now i feel a little better about the milage...

You must be getting highway miles man! I average more like 14 in town with stock rubbers. My overhead reads a little better than I actually get.

Did you compensate your speedometer when you put on bigger tires? Obviously, when you increase the size of your tires, it can throw off your speedometer, cuz you are going a little faster than its telling you, but also your going more miles than it might say you are. Also, if you did reset it, the mpg computer might not have compensated. All I know is when I had OEM tires on mine I was getting about 19-20 mpg (about 50/50 Hwy/Cty), after I changed them I get about 17-18. Also, I was getting about 325 miles a tank (with a 17-18 gal top off), granted I took it down low. Now I always try to fill up when it hits about a 1/4 and I'm getting about 250-260. If there is something I can do to boost my mpgs I'm all for it, at least I can afford it for now.

How did you take it down low with a 17-18 gallon top off? I've got a 22 gallon tank, is the 2005 dak less?

I just bought a 2005 DAK I dont know the size of the tank is it 18 gal? or 22? when i got it the tank was on full. i have driven it for 120 miles all city driving and driving it like a baby and the tank is half full, does this mean i am going to get about 230 and 240 miles per tank? if the tank is 22 gallons thats an avreage of about 10.68 mpg! YIKES!!!
